STRATEGY:

Early Childhood Resource Hubs

PURPOSE:

Facilitate coordination and collaboration at the local level between parents, ECE providers, programs that offer family supports or health services, and K-12 schools.

What's Involved KEY PARAMETERS:

Partnerships with Head Start, community child care, and school-based programs. Local advisory council determines best use of resources to meet local needs. One-stop shop for parents.

LEAD(S) / WHO TO INVOLVE:

ECE providers, parents, social service agencies, health & mental health providers

RESOURCES:

$7.5 million to fund 50 partnerships

ASSETS TO BUILD ON:

MIF EC Coalitions, existing partnerships, Invest Early model, proposed bill

TIME FRAME:

Two years

SUCCESS MEASURES:

Easier access for parents
More children school ready

If we really care about the health and well being of young children (birth to 3 years or 5 years) and their parents/guardians, then we need to involve those health care professionals who provide well child checkups/exams -- such as the MN Academy of Family Physicians, MN Academy of Pediatrics & the MN Pediatric Nurse Practitioner organizations (NAPNAP)>

We are an early childhood community and have benefited so much from this community approach. Programs, people, schools are working together and through our work we can see much better how we all fit together. This process helps us to accomplish more with less burden on individual(s)/program.
