STRATEGY:

Training and "certification" for FFNs

PURPOSE:

improve the quality of non-licensed care, with particular attention to those who may distrust the system and/or fear being affiliated with it

What's Involved KEY PARAMETERS:

identify culturally appropriate minimal standards (esp. if receiving public funds;) train and educate providers; educate parents on what constitutes quality, esp. the relationship between the provider and their child; focus on new parents seeking child care; some type of monitoring system

While I think assuring a quality experience for children with all types of care providers is very important, my experience with FFN within CCAP is that they change too frequently for significant certification and monitoring to be practical.
